Keep Your Carpet Looking New
Carpet Care & Maintenance
New carpet is a great investment, and you’ll probably want to keep it looking new for as long as possible. With some simple maintenance, a carpet’s beauty and texture will last many years!
A mat or throw rug on entryway carpeting will catch much of the dirt and soil that gets tracked in from outdoors. Any soil that does get in will get embedded deep in your carpet without regular vacuuming. You should also consider an annual professional cleaning.
Don’t pull on snags or frays – use scissors to trim them and avoid damage! Consistent humidity levels and sliders on furniture will prevent buckling.
Avoiding stains is easier than you might expect. With the right vacuum and cleaning products, it’s as simple as the following steps:
- Treat spills and dirt immediately. The longer they sit, the harder it will be to remove the stain.
- Add water and begin to blot, using detergent in small amounts if necessary. Then, on the highest suction setting, run back and forth over the stain with your vacuum, continuously adding water until the stain is completely gone.
- If the stain still remains after cleaning, you can resort to moistening the very tips with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution for one hour. Repeat the blotting and vacuuming process from the previous step.
